Heheh. Sorry, that's a terrible joke. Yep, oil change time on your VW or Audi
means busting out the Mann filters. Mann, Knecht, Bosch, Mahle, and Hengst are
all brands of oil filters that you can trust in your VW/Audi. Even if one of
those brands isn't technically OEM for your car, you can be sure it's still a
quality filter.
I just did oil changes for our A2 and A3 Golfs but had to go get filters first
(I had used up my last package of Mann). When I need OEM or high quality aftermarket
parts quickly, I hit up Atlantic Imported Auto
Supply because they're hardcore VW nuts and have their shop right down the road
from us. They had a 10 pack of Mann filters for my A2 in stock, and a six pack of
Knecht filters for Claire's A3 in stock. I also found out that the difference
between A3 and A2 4 cylinder oil filters is a design change that allows 10,000
miles between oil changes if you use synthetic oil. You can use the higher
mileage A3 filters on your A2 if you want the same benefit.
